The 4th grade had an an amazing adventure last week when they went to Kule Loklo, a Miwok village in Pt. Reyes and the Marin Museum of the American Indian in Novato. At the museum, a tour guide showed them  the materials and tools used by the Miwok and they got to play several traditional games. At Kule Loklo, it was a self-guided tour so, students observed the Kotcha houses and acted like Miwok villagers who used to live there.

A couple students in 4th grade Teddy O, Max H and Benjamin W. all said he field trip was fun, “but I noticed that some of the kotcha houses  had fallen apart,” one student added. “I liked to observe what the kotchas looked liked.”

A 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Snyder explained, “It’s cool to explore a real Miwok village. I love how when you walk on the hike, you start to feel like  a Miwok villager . It’s a very long day but it’s worth it.” The students had to be at school at 7am and they didn’t return to school until 4:30!

The drive from North Star to the museum was 2 hours. In total, the field trip was about 10 hours. The next day after the field trip, students were tired and exhausted from taking the hike and doing many activities. Current 3rd graders are going to love the field trip and enjoy the fun adventures they will take. A lot of students liked the field trip and most of them will never forget the great adventure.
