“A dirty cabin with mice, spiders, and other things are the last thing people want”. These are only a few of the things that people have said about the Outdoor Ed this year.
“No one wants a dirty bathroom.” Cabin Leader Shifa exclaimed. “The bathrooms are as dirty as a Taco Bell Supreme Crunch Wrap!” Many people have left shampoo bottles, toothbrushes and even toiletry bags in the bathrooms. Make sure that when you leave Outdoor Ed you make sure you have all your stuff.
Yet, many people said that the beds weren’t comfortable, “They feel like a gym mat!” stated by 5th grader Katherine. Many people expressed that you could feel the wood under the mattress. This year, there weren’t a complete amount of beds, this resulted in a few kids having to sleep on a cot in the middle of the room, making it difficult to walk.
The showers are very small and you only get 2 minutes. You only get to shower on two certain days depending on your cabin. Make sure to bring shampoo, body wash and conditioner. In total you only have 45 minutes for everyone to finish showering plus transition time so don’t take too much time in the shower and make sure to change fast after you shower.
Many people loved the food there. “The food is amazing” said 6th graders Zoe and Sofia. They have a huge variety of food options even if you have dietary restrictions like dairy free or vegetarian. They have spaghetti, cereal, pizza, french toast, chicken teriyaki, chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, tacos and even more. Meanwhile on beach day you have beach day soup with beans, spinach, tomatoes and you get a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or turkey and cheese sandwich.
The temperature can vary; it can be very cold or very hot. But this year for fifth graders there was very exceptional weather. If you go in the winter like December it will be freezing, if you are lucky maybe even snow in the mountains. But if you go earlier like 5th graders did this year you may just catch the good weather.
The quality of Outdoor Ed living conditions have been great according to many students. However there are many bad things about the cabins too. Like mice, bad beds, short showers and more. But the cabin is a nice space where you can easily relax and unwind from the Outdoor Ed day.
