As we all know, North Star’s 8th grade scholars are leaving this year, and North Star will miss them so much. They took time to share with us their favorite moments, experiences, and memories they have had throughout their years at North Star.
The 8th graders have had a lot of fun at NSA events. Lucy T. from 8th grade said one of the best things about her time at NSA were the musicals and plays, while Harper K. from 8th grade says she loved spirit days and the 20% project. Other than events, Charlie S. and Victoria M. from 8th grade both think they have made deeper connections with other students this year. There were many meaningful experiences in 8th grade, such as exciting projects and getting to know everyone.
Many of the teachers are proud of their scholars and lots of students will miss their friends. Ms. Baltay, one of the 8th grade teachers, said she is very proud of them. Ms. Sitte, one of our beloved counselors, jokingly said “I am devastated they are leaving and will fail them all so they can stay another year! I’m not ready to say goodbye, I love them.”
Two 7th graders, Nicole D. and Maddie W., say that their 8th grade friends are really good friends and that it is easy to have a conversation with them. Some 5th graders say that they are very friendly, kind, and funny. Everyone will be very sad to see them graduate this year.
Some 8th graders wanted to reflect on their time at North Star. Victoria M. from 8th grade said she would tell her 3rd grade self to remember to do her homework and that friendships change. Charlie S. from 8th grade said she would tell her younger self to spend every moment wisely. They both really liked NSA and everyone here. The 8th graders have made many memories and are very unhappy that they are leaving NSA.
When the 8th grade leaves North Star, they will go to high school. But where will they go and how do they feel about it? Well, many 8th graders are going to Sequoia or Woodside. Sophie P. from 8th grade says she is going to Woodside because she knows many people there and her sister goes there. Lucy T. from 8th grade says she is going to Sequoia because she thinks it is safer than other schools. She has varied emotions about leaving NSA and says that “It’s kind of a mixed bag because I’ve made many many memories but I’m ready to move on.”
North Star has helped our 8th graders in so many ways and they have learned so much about themselves and their peers. They have also assimilated knowledge about how to deal with homework and friendship. They have become some incredible people and countless scholars and teachers will miss them a lot.
